Dear BeingGirl Experts,

I got my period on Sunday, and it was a little bit of blood. It's Tuesday, and it hasn't happened again. I just have brown stuff in my pads. What is brown discharge? Oh, and what is chafing?

Dear Monica,

"Brown stuff" is a menstrual discharge with blood that has lost its oxygen and is a normal menstrual flow. You are just fine. Chafing is when you are experiencing rubbing from something that creates an irritation. It can be from your thighs rubbing together, or a piece of clothing that rubs against you, etc

My first period was brown discharge. I was so freaking terrified. It was horrible because I was wearing pure white undies that day and totally ruined them.
