What Does An Abnormal Pap Smear Mean?

Dear BeingGirl Experts,

I have had two abnormal Pap smears in the past three months. I asked my gyno's nurse what I could possibly be dealing with, and she would not tell me. Could you please tell me what I could possibly be dealing with?

Dear Zgirl,

It is not the nurse's place to discuss your test results. This is the responsibility of your gynecologist. Call your doctor today and "demand" that you have a discussion with him/her regarding your condition. I have no idea why your tests are abnormal. But your doctor should.

I've never had a pap smear, so I have no idea what an abnormal one could possibly mean, but I think the best thig to do is try to stay calm. Just ask your doctor.

I have had two abnormal paps... and if the next one comes back abnormal they are going to do a biopsy where they cut tissue from the vagina and send it off for testing
