Dear BeingGirl Experts, I started my period a year ago. Is it too early to start wearing a tampon? What brand should I use? Does the flow have to be heavy? Thanks, Mel --- Hi Mel! You are the one to decide if you are ready to wear tampons. There is no age requirement, but you do need to be responsible and follow the guidelines for use. We consider the Tampax Pearl Lite tampon to be the perfect first tampon. Learning any new technique can be difficult, and tampon insertion is a new technique for you. It may or may not be actually painful, but a totally inserted tampon is not felt and, therefore, is very comfortable. After a few times, the insertion becomes automatic and you really don't feel anything. Tampon insertion should be tried when you have your period and when you aren't rushed. www.beinggirl.com/en_US/yourperiod_inserttampon.jsp is a page with links on tampon insertion and tampons you may find helpful.
Hope this is helpful, Your BeingGirl Experts
