Visit Gynecologist: What's It Like?
Dear BeingGirl Experts, I'm eighteen, and have never been to a gynecologist. I'm really nervous. Can you help me to understand what the visit will be like? Ruby --- Dear Ruby, Your doctor and the nurse know you are new to this and will help you feel comfortable. During this visit, the doctor (or possibly a nurse practitioner) will get to know you by asking questions about your health, relationships, activities, habits, and the any changes in your body. This is a time for you to ask your new doctor/health care provider lots of questions! He or she can talk with you about many of those private things —you have been wondering about puberty, your body, periods, acne, weight, body/facial hair, sexual activity, birth control, etc. Make a list before you go, so you don't forget any of your important questions. You can learn more about a first gynecological visit by visiting several articles on BeingGirl. Check out http://www.beinggirl.com/article/gynecologist —for more information on this visit. Hope this is helpful, Your BeingGirl Experts
