Dear BeingGirl Experts,

If I am using pads, how do I know when to change them?

Lizzie

---

Dear Lizzie,

You can see the collection of menstrual fluid on the pad. When it covers a great deal of the pad then you need to change it. You can change a pad anywhere from 4–6 hours. You may need to change it sooner if it becomes saturated and begins to smell.

Good luck!

@Lizzy, I can answer your second question. No! You should NOT wear tampons if you're not on your period. Tampons can absorb normal vaginal moisture putting you at a greater risk for TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome). You should only wear liners if you have discharge but not your period. Hope I helped! Lizzy, that's not how you ask questions on beinggirl, you have to go to the ask the experts, then at the top there should be a thing which says ask here, they're not gonna reply to comments.
