Am I Ready To Use A Tampon?
Dear BeingGirl Experts, I have had my period four times, and I live on a lake. I'm not sure if I can use tampons yet. Even when I can, I'm scared I wouldn't put it in right. How do I know if I'm ready? They have been pretty regular when I have them. Leslie --- Dear Leslie, First —RELAX! It is much harder to insert a tampon if you are tense and tighten your vaginal muscles. The important thing to know about using tampons is that you have to use the lowest absorbency necessary for any particular day of your period. That means the tampon should be saturated within 4 –8 hours. Get as much information as you can. Talk to your friends. Tampons should only be inserted when you have your period, which makes them easier to insert because of the lubrication from your menstrual flow. Check this [link to OBJ003] out for the insertion details, and then go here [link to ART655] for more about TSS. Correctly-inserted tampons do not hurt. However, the first insertions are not necessarily totally comfortable because you are learning a new technique. This is a learning experience. Good luck, Your BeingGirl Experts
