When you start a new relationship conversation can be difficult. Ask him about things in his life you know are important to him family, sports, etc. Get him to share his likes and dislikes. When he talks, pay attention to what he is saying. When he mentions something he is doing, you can ask him about it later. Share with him what is happening in your life. Tell him about your daily activities, hobbies, sports, etc.

Try not to spend too much time together and too much time on the phone. This way you won t have those pauses in your conversation. The more things you do as individuals, the more you will have to discuss when you do talk or get together. Also, when you get together, try to choose activities that will get you talking try a new activity together. Rather than going to a movie all the time, you could go bowling or go to a ballgame. If conversation continues to be a struggle, you may need to consider whether the two of you have enough in common to have a relationship.
