Hey BeingGirls,
So yeah, teenage breakups totally suck! There is no doubt about it, but if you remember to take care of you and give yourself time to heal, you WILL be OK. Although dealing with a teenage breakup is different for everyone, I believe there is some general information that you should think about when going through the teenage breakup blues.
In essence, with teenage breakups one of the most important things you can do is to deal with the sadness, pain, anger, confusion, and any other feelings you are going through upfront! Ugh, I know! Anyhow, don't feel like you have to blow through these feelings. Some people might say just get over it, but true friends and your family will know to give you the time and space to deal. Definitely use your friends and family as a shoulder to lean on.
At the same time, you shouldn't put yourself into a deep depression dwelling on your teenage breakup. You WILL have to move forward while dealing with the pain. Take one day at a time and get yourself to focus on new things.Find a way to keep yourself busy and connected to the world.
At the end of the day, you have to let yourself know that you are an amazing wonderful person and you will date again. You are not a loser and you are NOT alone! Everyone goes through a breakup, even the hottest celebs! Here are some ways to vent:
Surround yourself with all the music that you love by making a compilation of your favorite tunes that always put a smile on your face. Get active: take a boxing or karate class or just get in a good cardio workout. Physical altercations are not the best way to vent; instead, get an old pillow and use that as your punching bag or object to yell into. Start painting, drawing, or putting your feelings into words through poetry, song, or story.
Talk it out. Find someone you can confide in and express your thoughts and feelings.
Good luck friends! Just remember that we will get through your teenage breakup together.
