Dear BeingGirl Experts,

I haven't gotten my period yet, but I think I will soon, and I want to know my options and be prepared. What are the "rules" of using a tampon?

Thanks!

Arielle

Dear Arielle,

We suggest waiting to use tampons until you have a regular cycle and understand your flow. You need to use the lowest absorbency necessary for your flow and change the tampon every 48 hours. A tampon should never be left in place more than 8 hours. The following two sites will give you important information. www.beinggirl.com/en_US/yourperiod_inserttampon.jsp is a page with links on tampon insertion and tampons you may find helpful. www.beinggirl.com/article/what-is-tss/ will help you understand TSS better.

Good luck,

Your BeingGirl Experts

I used tampons the day after i got my first period. I reccommend sleek tampons and not compak. Sleek is easier to use
