My Tampon Hurts

Dear BeingGirl Experts,

Tampons hurt when I take them out. Is this normal, or can I prevent it?

Josetta

---

Dear Josetta,

A tampon needs to be saturated so that it can "slide" out when you gently pull on the string. Are you experiencing pain because the tampon is dry?

If you are having problems removing your tampon, make sure you use the lowest absorbency tampon for your flow, leave the tampon in from 48 hours, and make sure you pull the tampon out at the same angle that you used to insert it. Also, if you tug on the string and the tampon doesn't start to pull out, you may need to leave it in a little longer, but no longer than 8 hours.

Hope this helps.

My tampon hurts when I put it in. My mom said my body might not be ready yet. Gotta stick with pads 4 now. :(

The two times that i've worn a tampon, it hurts to take it out. The first time was because i messed up and had to redo it but i couldn't get it out because it was dry. The second time i had it in while i was at a swimming party. And i had it in for at least 7 hours and when i went to take it out, it really hurt, even though it was soaked from the water too. So i have this same problem..

It hurts me to how do I prevent that? Just wondering somebody told me that tampons cause blood clots so does that mean they are bad to use? is that even true?

no one should be scared to use tampons it alright they don't hurt(: the best thing to do is probly change them every 4-5 hours if you leave it in too long they may absorb a lot more than needed and could expand and if your tight may be painful and if you mess up and need to take it out but your a little dry sit in some water for a few minutes. i have exprerience with them so take my advice please. they are better than pads but i olny use tampons for sports, swimming and/or i just dont want to feel that rush of blood when i stand up(: well thanks hope i helped -A

Okay, first your tampon should not hurt at all. There is a little bit of tightness because your body isn't used to it but after having used one 3 times..you should be used it. Tampons are sooo unbelievably convenient during your period..sometimes you don't even notice that you're on it! #Experience, lots of it(:
