When you get your period for the first time, how should you react?

Dear Maddie,

I have always thought starting your period for the first time is something to celebrate. This is a huge rite of passage, and you'll always remember just how it happened. Be sure you tell mom when you first start. This is something you will probably share with your own daughter(s) some day. Ask mom about hers if she hasn’t already told you.

idk when i will get my period but i have the signs im starting to get bigger i eat a lot im getting little bits of discharge also LOTS of mood swings but when my period comes im afraid to tell my mom or use tampons any tips on protection or on how to tell my mom also sorry for the long comment

In some countries when a girl grts hr first period she stays home from school while her mom and girl relatives fill her in on stuff she needs to know. And then they sing a song about menstruation. Lol but dont hold me to that i got it from a book!

I got my prior two nearly three years ago, when I was on a day cruise. I went to the bathroom, and saw red stuff on my underwear. I thought I had a nose bleed. It doesn't hurt, only if you have cramps, which I got later.
