Dear BeingGirl Experts,
All of my friends shave their legs. Sometimes they start up a conversation about it, and since I don't shave my legs yet, I just look around and hope they don't start talking to me about it! I don't really care to shave my legs (since I like to wear pants and jeans all the time), but I feel like it's a "requirement". What do you think I should do? Do you know any good ways to ask your mom to let you shave your legs? PLEASE help!
Thanx a bunch!

BraT GrrL,
Involving mom in when it will be a good time to start shaving is a smart plan. Chances are she will be more than willing to let you start if you just ask. "Mom, I am beginning to get more hair on my legs. I am nervous about shaving. I don't think I need to shave yet, but want your help in deciding when I should start shaving. The girls at school are making me feel like I should be shaving now. Can you help me?" If you don't feel like you can ask her face-to-face then send her an email or text.
Shaving your underarms can help reduce bacteria. Bacteria can lead to odor so reducing the amount of hair helps you smell fresher.
Venus razors and shaving supplies are what we recommend. Girls tell us they work great and they have lots of choices. You will need your very own razor. It isn't a healthy idea to share razors. Understand you don't need to shave daily when you first start shaving. Most girls only shave a time or two a week for a while.
Shaving gels like those made by Venus help the razor glide over your skin easily. This also helps you see if you have missed any spots! When shaving move the razor in the direction of hair growth to make the hair shorter and shave against the grain for results that are closest.
Remember to get mom to share all her shaving tips with you!
Hope this is helpful,
