The A, B, C, and Ds Of Determining the Right Bra Size

Right bra size. What do all those letters mean? Is a cup size 8 ounces?

1. Using a measuring tape, determine the number of inches around your chest, just below your breasts.

2. Add 5 inches if it is an odd number; add 4 inches if it is an even number. This is your bra measurement.

3. To find out what size cup you need, measure around the fullest part of your breasts.

If the two numbers are the same, you need an AA-cup.
If the two numbers differ by 1 inch, you need an A-cup.
If the two numbers differ by 2 inches, you need a B-cup.
If the two numbers differ by 3 inches, you need a C-cup.
If the two numbers differ by 4 inches, you need a D-cup.
If the two numbers differ by 5 inches, you need a DD-cup.

Example

Claudia's first measurement, around her chest, just below her breasts, was 28 inches. Adding 4 inches gives her 32 inches. This is her bra measurement. Claudia's second measurement, around the fullest part of her breasts was 34 inches. The difference between the two numbers (in this case, 32 and 34) is 2 inches, so she needs a B-cup. Her right bra size is 32B.

I was a 34a but then I went to a store and decided to try on a 32b and turns out that it is almost to small and I need a 34b, I moved almost up a whole size, but if the bra is your size but it rides up whenever you put your arms up, do you need to move up a size

is there a difference in sizes like if you are a 32b would there be a 32b in adults or not

This doesn't always work.... my measurement is 32 under and 39 on and it says im a 36 C when I've been wearing a 36 DD in every bra I've ever had for about... 6 months now and they're a bit small but its almost impossible to find them any bigger .... I wear adult bras... asmy mom has actually gotten me Victoria secret ones to see if they help and they haven't...

@xxStellaxx Has your mom expressly forbidden you from wearing real bras? 'cause if not, why not buy a couple if she ever gives you some money and sends you to the store to buy your own clothes?

yeah . . . no. Says I'm a 36C, while I'm actually a 34D . . . big difference

According to this, I'm a 34C. A month ago I was somewhere between a B and C, and a month before that I was a 34B. My shirts have been a bit tighter in the chest lately. I actually don't wear real bras. I wear the camisoles with the shelf bras and they serve me fine, so I don't know what I would really wear, 'cause I never really thought of my breasts as C-cups.
