Quick Summer Skincare Tips

  • ViewsIcon 1895

Warm, sunny days are what make summer such a blast, but the heat can also lead to all kinds of breakouts. From zits to rashes, keep your skin clear when it’s hot out with these cures for common summer skincare problems.

Simply Pimply

Heat and humidity can make skin oily, leading to acne on the face, chest and back. If pimples start popping up, gently cleanse with a salicylic acid wash twice a day at most — more than that might irritate skin. Sweat can also cause acne so be sure to shower after exercising.

Beat by Heat Rash

If you have a sea of red bumps on your body, and they feel itchy or prickly, then you probably have heat rash. Get out of the sun and apply cold, damp cloths. The rash should clear as your skin cools.

Bikini Bumps

Breaking out along the bikini line? Those bumps are caused by shaven hairs curling back and growing into the skin. Stop shaving until they clear up, and if they don’t go away within a week or so, talk to your doctor about treating them with hydrocortisone cream. Help prevent razor bumps by never shaving dry.
