Hey BeingGirls,
When prom season rolls around, it's easy to get very excited...and maybe a little stressed. Well, have no fear. I'm here to help you get your pre-prom "Must Have" plans in order. One of my favorite mottos is: With a little preparation beforehand, you won't find yourself in quicksand (thanks, Grammy)!
Of course the most crucial "Must Have" item for any special occasion is your dress! If you haven't found your dress yet, do your research and get out there and buy one soon.
Now, getting ready for the prom doesn't stop at finding a great dress. Take a look at my "Must Have" checklist to find out what else you need to do pre-prom to prepare for your special night.
Book your limo and reconfirm: If you've got a small group rolling together, consider taking a town car or another car instead of a limo. You'll still show up in style while saving a little gas money!
Make your restaurant reservation and reconfirm: Discuss with your date where you'd like to go eat and if it's within your price range. Again, be sure to reconfirm your reservation!
Make your hair appointment: Before your appointment, think about what look and hairstyle you want for your night. Check out what looks your favorite celebs are rockin' or search online for great hairstyle tips.
Make your pre-prom and post-prom plans: Get your friends together and discuss where you want to meet before the prom to take pictures and what you'll all do after the prom.
Keep your parents in the loop: This might seem like a downer, but it's best to work with your rents and come up with some compromises rather than make them your enemy.
Haven't mustered the courage to ask someone out?
Here are some tips.
If you have the opportunity to find out pre-prom whether or not he's available, it might save you some time. You could talk to his friends or even just ask him. Don't ever be afraid to talk to your crush.
Take the initiative. Unfortunately, many guys are too afraid to walk up to someone they're interested in and ask them out. Take matters into your own hands. Walk up to him and introduce yourself. If he seems receptive when you introduce yourself, keep on talking to him.
Don't approach him if he's surrounded by his buddies. It's hard to get to know someone if you have to shove through five other people.
Make eye contact with him and try to hold it for just a little longer than you normally would— just two or three seconds. If he makes eye contact back, he's probably interested in you.
Ask in a manner that's not so out of the ordinary for him or for you. If he says no, or if he seems like he needs more time, don't get too upset; always say you can just be friends if that's what he wants. Chances are, he'll change his mind. Guys do this a lot. Whatever you do, don't trash him behind his back; that makes you look bad. If he says yes, then congratulations!
Good Luck!
