Dear BeingGirl Experts,

What's best for me to be using, pads or tampons?

Elle

---

Dear Elle,

This is definitely a personal decision. The Always Ultra thin pads and Always Infinity pads [link to beinggirl > products > always > always ultra thin page] are so discrete and comfortable, you may want to try them. Tampax [link to BeingGirl Tampax page] tampons give you the freedom and discretion to do whatever you'd like while you are menstruating, including swimming. So you need to analyze your lifestyle and come up with the type of product that will be best for you. You may decide on different products for different days of your period. For more information on menstrual protection, go here [link to ART559].

Good luck,

Hey everyone! Tampons! Being scared about using tampons is fine! They have so many different types, different flows, different applicator and non-applicator tampons. I tried getting my tampon in the first time in February 2 years ago, I tried SO many times that month. But it wasn't working. I then tried again in September of that same year. I told myself I HAD to do it. For sports and every other reason. I knew I needed to. And I got it in after a few tries. What was different the 2nd time was -I wasn't as scared, there was nothing to lose. -I opened a tampon, took it out of the applicator just to look at the applicator and the tampon, it helped comfort me. Now every time I try a new brand, I need to do that and I save it. -I wasn't nervous. I watched a few videos on beinggirl and lil-lets. The actual applying part.... I wasn't angling it towards the back of my body. It's the BIGGEST tip that helped me! :)

When I get my period I think I will have to use tampons because I train and do sports in summer and then it's back to swim team in the fall-spring. So I'm pretty sure I will have to use them my first period. I'm scared is that bad?

I use both. I feel more secure with a tampon in at school. The reason being that I am always worried that some will seep through and show on my jeans. Yet, I prefer pads on the weekends. Also, I use tampons because I am a swimmer and can't use pads.

Tampons are best. Its weird the first few times but after a while, you wouldn't want to wear pads. And they are more comfortable and less wet

I think girls should use pads in my opinion, because I have tried a tampon and I hated it.I have used it once but I tried the second time It just hurt, and it didn't feel right. But when I wear a pad I feel like I'm peeing myself. So I think when I get older I will start using tampons.

I prefer to wear pads because tampons, hurt a little bit. I get scared when I use them, because you have to stick something inside you! Its a very personal choice, you should try both to see which one is more comfortable for you.
