My Boyfriend Is Older: Is That Okay?

Dear BeingGirl Experts,

My boyfriend is older, and we have been together for almost three months now. We both love each other a lot, and there is a good bit of age difference. He's going on 20, and I'm going on 16. We've never argued, but we have separated once before. What I was wondering is, should I put him to a test to see if he really loves me or not? Or should I just let it take its own course? All my friends think he's cheating on me, and I'm starting to think the same thing. Help!!!

Kristine

Dear Kristine,

Your age difference makes for insecurities in the relationship. The two of you need to trust each other. He may, indeed, be too old for you and you are not really comfortable in the relationship. I don't know you or the history surrounding your relationship and won't be much help by guessing. I can't give you any answers, just something to think about.

Good luck,

Your BeingGirl Experts

My boyfriend is 2 years, 3 months, and 9 days older than me. He's 18 and I'll be 16 in February. I don't see any problems with age differences. Sure it causes problems like the fact that he's going off to college next year, and we won't see each other very much, but if you really love each other, age shouldn't matter. My parents are 8 and a half years different, and my great grand parents were 27 years different. If you really love someone, age doesn't matter.

My sister and her husband are 3 or 4 years apart. They are a lovely couple. I never go by age.. Unless it's illegal. ;-)

I'm 13 but most older guys like (15+) think im older like 16 and 17. I'm in a relationship with someone my age. But before when I saw a guy like 15 or 16 that looked good and they asked me my age I would say 13 and they would be surprised. Some people thought I shoulda lied bout my age and say I'm a year older. I don't think so...
