Menstrual Cramps And Exercise
Dear BeingGirl Experts, I like to run, but even in gym class my cramps get so bad I feel like I could die. Usually this happens only after I've been running. How can I prevent this, and why does it happen? Thanks, Naomi --- Dear Naomi, Are you talking about menstrual cramps? Usually moderate exercise is good for menstrual cramps. To prevent mild to moderate cramps, try taking over-the-counter pain medication containing ibuprofen. Make sure you follow the directions on the package and get mom’s approval before taking any medication. If this doesn’t work, then talk to mom about making you an appointment with your doctor/health care provider. Also, understand that your uterus is not the only organ in your abdomen. If the cramping you are concerned about has nothing to do with your period, let an adult (like mom) know what is happening. This adult can help you check with your health care professional about this if it is necessary. Hope this is helpful, Your BeingGirl Experts
