Hi BeingGirl Experts,
My question is: Whenever I am on my period on the first day it's light and for the rest of the time it's very heavy. Is there something wrong with me? I also have another question. I use pads whenever I am on my period, but the blood always ends up going through it, and I am scared to use a tampon. Should I use one? What are your suggestions?

Dear Trinity,
The characteristics of your period you have described are not unusual when it comes to menstrual periods. Your period sounds normal. Changing your pad more often and/or using a higher-absorbency pad will help eliminate having the flow go through it so fast.
Have you tried the Always Infinity pad? Despite their thin appearance, they provide great protection throughout your period. The Always Infinity is different from other pads and the women and girls who use the Infinity say the pad is wonderful. The Infinity allows women the ability to move easily because of the pad’s flexibility and it absorbs great. The Infinity pad is also very thin and lots of teens prefer this. Pads should be changed every 4–6 hours. Deciding to use tampons is a personal choice. Before trying them gather information to better understand how tampons work and how to use them. Your mother and friends who use tampons will probably be more than happy to tell you what they like about tampons and share some tips about using them. Remember the choice is yours when it comes to menstrual protection. There is a lot of information on pads and tampons for you on BeingGirl.
Hope this is helpful,
