Dear BeingGirl Experts,

I haven't started using tampons yet, and I want to know how I can tell my mom that I want to try it and see how that works for me? Please help me.

Makayla

---

Dear Makayla,

Ask yourself what the reasons are you want to use tampons. Write these down to share with mom. Reading the information in BeingGirl.com will help you know and understand the risks of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) at http://www.beinggirl.com/article/what-is-tss/ and the proper use of tampons at http://www.beinggirl.com/article/use-tampon/. Mom may have concerns, and when she knows you understand what you need to know about tampons and TSS, this should help her be more comfortable with you using tampons. When you are ready, sit down and explain to your mom why you want to use tampons. Even if your mom has concerns about you using tampons, she should be proud that you went to so much trouble for something you want

Good luck,

Your BeingGirl Experts

We are so lucky to live in the time we do. imagine when our moms were kids. they didnt have the tech we do, so they couldn't email or text to ask their moms embarrassing questions. They had to ask face to face!

when ever I have questions for my mom about this kind of stuff, I e-mail it to her :) I find it easier, and not very awkward :D
