Dear BeingGirl Experts,

How do you get blood out from your pants/underwear?

Kaylee

---

Dear Kaylee,

Treating period stains is best done as soon as you find out you had a leak. (The fresher any stain is the easier it to successfully remove.) Make sure your garment or item stained is washable. Soaking the stain in cold water may do the trick before washing.

If not, we have a couple of other techniques you can try. Hydrogen peroxide mixed with cold water will also remove period stains. Mix ¼ cup of hydrogen peroxide with ¾ cup water. You can pour this on the stain or you can soak the stained area in the solution before washing.

Another option is to mix one tablespoon of meat tenderizer with two tablespoons of cold water. Mix this together to make a paste. Spread the paste on the stain allowing it to sit for 1–2 hours before washing. With either stain removal technique you use once the stain is loosened, you can wash them using your regular detergent. For more information about removing blood from fabric, go to www.tide.com/en-US/stains/result/blood.jspx.

Hope this does the trick!

Another good way is cold water and shampoo. Or dish soap. Something about it, I guess its the fact that shampoo is meant to take oil of your hair and clean it, and dish soap usually is a degreaser type, so it strips the blood off your underwear/pants.

Here is another thing: If some girls are really afraid of the blood on your underwear than you could buy a pack of underwear and only wear it when your on your period. That way you wont have to worry about blood on every single pair of your panties.

On my last period I managed to stain basically every single pair of underwear I had. The hydrogen peroxide saved most of them, but I wear a liner daily anyways, so it's not like I see the stains all the time. :)
