I am 14 years old, and I just got my period four days ago. I have a lot of blood coming out, and it isn't decreasing. When will my period end, and am I losing too much blood?

The amount of blood in the menstrual fluid varies from woman female to female, and from day to day during the period. A period usually ends quite lightly, with most menstrual fluid lost in the first few days. Even then, it doesn't come out very quickly. You lose about 6–9 tablespoons of menstrual fluid during your period, but only about 3 tablespoons of it is blood. Chances are this is not as much as you might think. Your body contains more than 5 pints of blood, so it doesn't miss the little you lose during a period and quickly makes up for it. If your period lasts for more than 7 days and your flow continues to be heavy, you should let your mom know and see your doctor/healthcare professional to determine why this is happening.
