xxJustMexx I think maybe you should just talk to your mom about tampons.There really important if you do a sport i would know i do ballet and i tryed doing it with a pad...it dosent work.I know how it is your mom mite not want you to grow up but tell her its very important that you have the right protection. hope this helped.

TotallyNewGirl: You can start wearing tampons whenever during your period that u feel like your ready. For your friend if she swims that much she should probably think about wearing tampons when she starts her period. I really hope this helps Good luck

I haven't started my period yet. I was born two months and eight days early.will that effect when my period comes.I've had cramps where my right ovary is for the past month. And i had the discharge in april 2011. What should i do?

Soo girls i was like some of you and wanted to try tampons, but my mom was saying she wasnt ready for me too. So we were at the store just us with my 11 month old brother. when i was going to ask to us tampons,i thought i knew the answer,no. but i asked her (im 13). girls no matter what, its going to be scary to hear what they think, even more so when youve already talked about it and its a no. so i say "Mom since were here and my period will start anytime possibly as we speak,and i want to go swim this weak (its been getting hot were i live), so maybe i can start trying tampons"

of course she said no that she wanted me to wait. but i said i wouldnt be comfortable if i waited so can i get some, then she said well i have tampons. (she has normal absobent pearl lite) so by the time you read this i hope my period will be here because to tell you the truth i really want to try tampons. but the lession is that its different for every girl to ask their mom but u have to take a leap of faith. tell u how the tampon using goes! o lol thank for all the support ladys, even if it wasnt directly to me!

Okay guys. I had my first period on Dec. 2nd 2011. My period is very strange, so I just finished my second one today. Technically, I've only had two periods so far. I went to the pool yesterday for a b-day party, and I told my mom that I couldn't go in. So I didn't. She didn't mention tampons or anything at all. Today we went to the pool again, and I didn't go in. I KNOW she uses tampons. She leaves them on her counter all the time. but I guess she doesn't think I'm old enough or ready. I don't know what to do. I'm a swimmer. So in the summer I always join the YMCA's swim team. I don't know what to do. Because we have practice almost every day and when I get my period during the summer I'll miss like a WEEK of practice. What do I do? My mom won't even mention them! HELP!!

I haven't started my period yet and I was wondering what would be a good way to talk to my mom about it.. . I looked in the section of BeingGirl thats about that and all but(sorry to say) I would rather not give my mom a note saying "Hey mom! I was wondering about periods and tampons! Lets talk about it soon!" It just would creep me and her both out. I want to know like maybe a casual-er way to ask about it.... Also I do a lot of sports, and when I get my period, I would like to know when it would be okay for me to try tampons. Also, my friend swims competitively and she hasn't gotten her period yet. Will she have to use tampons right away? And aren't you like not supposed to do that until your flow is normal? Just a random question on the subject....
