Hey Friends, here are some great first date tips!

Oh, what an exciting moment...a FIRST DATE, woo hoo! Whether it's your very first date or your first date with that person you've been hardcore crushing on, I'm here to walk you through first date tips for this special occasion.

First Date Tips: Planning Activity

Having fun is all about thinking things out beforehand and being prepared. Talk with your date about a plan of action. Instead of going to a movie, figure out a fun activity that the two of you can do together that is interesting, engaging, and a way for you to get to know each other. Don't get me wrong, I love movies and I think it's a great date activity eventually, but for the first date, I would think of something else.

Here are some first date tips for a great date activity:

  • Go to the zoo.
  • Go to a museum.
  • Go to a fair or festival.
  • Go to a cafésome have games you can play while you are there.
  • Go out to a picnic.
  • Go for a hike.

First Date Tips: The Right Outfit

Once you know where you're going and what you'll be doing, you must have the right outfit. I stress finding the right outfit for you and your body type. Obviously dress to impress, because seriously, your favorite pair of sweats isn't going to cut it. However, don't feel like you have to dress like someone else in order to be liked.

First Date Tips: Having a Good Time

Be comfortable in what you wear. When you look and feel comfortable, having a good time with your date is that much easier. Your first date is all about getting to know someone, so take the time to have a real conversation. I'm not saying to interrogate the person. Keep things light and easy. Ask open-ended questions that allow your date to go into detail and allow you to answer as well.

First date tips and topics to talk about:

  • Favorite movies/TV shows.
  • Favorite music.
  • Favorite hobbies and pastimes.
  • Favorite books, graphic novels.
  • Favorite sports and events to attend.
  • Favorite places you have visited or want to visit.
  • Family.
  • Childhood stories.

Here are some first date topics to avoid:

  • Past relationships or crushes.
  • Emotional issues.
  • Anything too personal.

Being open and honest is always a good policy, but putting EVERYTHING out on the table will most likely scare your date away.

First Date Tips: Must Have Essentials

When on the date, remember to pack some must have essentials such as:

  • Lip gloss.
  • Small mirror or compact.
  • Mints or gum.
  • Some tampons or pads (it's best to be safe than sorry).
  • Your cell phone; remember don't answer it during the date.

First Date Tips: Be Yourself

Okay, the most important advice I can give you for first date tips is to BE YOURSELF! I know it sounds cheesy, but I am serious. Let your date get to know the real you. Remember, this is your date, too, and you should be having just as much fun as your date. Don't restrict yourself. You shouldn't feel like you can't talk and voice your thoughts and opinions, or feel like you can't order a meal. Being yourself will make for a much better and happier date experience.

First Date Tips: Have fun!

First Date Tips: Playing games

Are you and your crush meant to be? Find out by playing MASH (Mansion, Apartment, Shack, or House) or LMHF (Love, Hate, Marriage, Friendship) games. Here are the rules.

1. Write down five each of the following: names, types of cars, colors, number of children, places, and careers.

2. Then, one person starts drawing a spiral on a piece of paper, and the person whose fortune is being told says when to stop. Then, you count across the spiral top to bottom to get the magic number for the game.

3. Alright, now all you do is count through your lists of items AND the letters M-A-S-H, eliminating the ones that you land on with your magic number. The last one left in each group is your winner. Keep counting through until you have only your last choice in each category left and voila your future.

Love, Hate, Marriage, Friendship

1. Write your full name and the full name of your crush.

2. Then examine every letter in both names. If the same letter appears in both your name and your crush's name, cross it off in each name.

3. Label the remaining letters with L, H, F and M (for Love, Hate, Friendship and Marriage), repeat from the beginning of your name, to the end of your crush. Whatever letter is last from LHMF indicates the kind of relationship the two of can expect to have in the future.

My first date was the most awkward thing ever. We basically walked around town for an hour staring at our phones and chatting once in a while about stupid stuff. We didn't go out again after that. :/
