Dear BeingGirl Experts, I'm 14, and don't have my period yet. That's not the problem. I was wondering, when you have your period —how do you shower or take a bath? I know it's silly. But if you didn't have a tampon in, wouldn't the blood go in bath water or run down your leg in the shower? I know it's a stupid question. But I don't have a mom or older sister to ask, so I hope you can help me. Thanks for your time, and sorry the question is so stupid. Crystal --- Dear Crystal, The only stupid question is the one not asked! Continuing to shower or bathe regularly (daily) when you are menstruating is an important health habit. In the shower, any discharge will go down the drain with the running water. This is not a problem. Taking a bath may be something you want to avoid unless you are using a tampon. Although being in the water will help to keep some of the blood in your vagina (it's a pressure issue), you may still tend to release menstrual fluid in the bath water and be distressed by it. So bottom line: shower daily, bathe with a tampon. Good luck, Your BeingGirl Experts
