Dear BeingGirl Experts,

During the summer months, what should you do with pubic hair when you want to wear a cute swimsuit?

Ellen,

Thanks for contacting us! Your question is one lots of teen girls have.

Pubic hair grows to protect this area from sweat and dirt. Protection from dirt and sweat is the same reason you have eyebrows. Because of this most girls choose just to remove the bikini line and trim the remaining pubic hair. Your bathing suit or bikini line is the line used as the guide for where to remove pubic hair. This is why it is often referred to as the "bikini line".

Venus has a variety of razors girls tell us work well for the bikini area. After soaking in a warm bath or shower for 23 minutes before shaving and using a gel like those made by Satin Care, you will be able to get a clean and close shave. We recommend the Venus Bikini Trimmer for trimming the hair you don't shave. You will need a good lotion after shaving. The one we recommend is Olay's Bikini Moisturizing Lotion because it leaves skin looking and feeling beautiful.

Shaving the entire pubic area is a personal decision and matter of preference. Understand a shaved pubic area may be itchy as it grows back. After care is important so make sure you have plenty of moisturizing lotion!

We hope this is helpful!
