This is kind of embarrassing, but I shave my pubic hair. When I let it grow, it looks ugly and itches me. When I shave it, the area feels sensitive, and I get little red bumps. I don't shave dry, so that's not the problem. What should I do?

Dear Rory,

Razor bumps appear when hair curls and brows back into the skin. Treating them means you need to stop shaving for about four weeks. This will allow enough time for the hair to grow enough to come out of the skin. Applying an antibiotic ointment will be helpful as well.

So you don't get these bumps again, use warm water to soften the skin and hairs before shaving. After soaking in a warm bath or shower for 2–3 minutes use a gel like those made by Satin Care. This will help you will get a clean and close shave. Apply the shaving gel upward or in the opposite direction of hair growth. You will need to apply a good lotion after shaving. The one we recommend is Olay's Bikini Moisturizing Lotion because it leaves skin looking and feeling beautiful.

Pubic hair can be itchy as it grows back.
