Whether it's a job interview, the first day of school, or a first date, a catastrophe can be defined by a zit, bad hair days, or a snag in your pantyhose. Instead of locking yourself in your bedroom and dreaming about the opportunities that could have been, take charge!
The night before your big event, look at the ever-consuming zit on your face (as if you haven't been poring over it all day!). Is it a whitehead? If it is,it's surgery time, gals. First, wash your hands and face. Touching your face with dirty hands is probably what brought this bad boy on in the first place. Use warm compresses to bring the pimple to a head. Take an acne extractor or thin pin and disinfect/sterilize it with alcohol. Apply gentle pressure on the pimple until the pimple is drained. Gently dab astringent on the zit and don't pick at it! Dab on a concealer with a greenish or yellow tone to counteract the redness. Try CoverGirl Invisible Concealer— it's light and won't look cakey, but it'll do the job. Use a loose powder like CoverGirl Professional Loose Powder all over your face.
Is it one of those bad hair days? Don't worry, it happens to the best of us. If your hair is at its frizziest or just not doing anything you tell it to do, try a simple bun. Put your hair in a low ponytail, but keep some face-framing pieces out. Curl the ponytail with a curling iron. Bobby pin the front pieces loosely back. Gently twist the ponytail into a bun, but let some pieces of hair fall out. Pin the bun securely.
Need some other quick fixes? Here are some more:
Buy a lint brush. If your cat's been lying around on your jacket, a lint brush will be key. In a jam with no lint brush? Wrap tape around your index and middle fingers, sticky side out. Dab your fingers on the clothing. Nail polish is essential when you have a snag in your pantyhose. Lightly dab clear nail polish on the snag. Hair a little greasy? Sprinkle some baby powder on your head (just a little bit!), flip your head over and lightly run your fingers through your hair. The baby powder will soak up the grease and prevent this bad hair day from happening. Masking tape can fix an unruly pants hem if you don't have time to sew it up. Hair super staticky? Rub a dryer sheet on your locks.
When you have an important day ahead of you, go to sleep earlier the night before and get up early. Lay out your outfit and pack your pocketbook or bookbag the evening before.
However, life doesn't always go as planned and putting a bag over your head and staying in bed on those bad hair days is NOT an option! Say it with me, girls: "Today the zit on my forehead will NOT ruin my day!"
